NYC or bust!

We are off to New York this morning and I couldn't be more excited! John is running the marathon and for the first time I get to be on the cheering side (pictures to come). Lucky for me, my dear friend Ginny lives in New York and is going to join me in the adventure of following John thru the 5 NYC boroughs. I have to admit that I am a tad bit jealous that he is running this race without me...I have done it three times and it truly is one of the most incredible experiences. The weather is supposed to be phenomenal on race day...yay!

Since John is going to be running the 26.2 miles, I think he's going to have to make up for all those lost calories! I absolutely love the restaurants in New York! Although I have my favorite spots (Gramercy Tavern and Balthazar), I used Gwyenth's amazing blog for some other NYC suggestion.

Here are some of the places I am dying to try on our trip (and GP's review):
Cookshop: www.cookshopny.com
156 Tenth Avenue
New York, NY 10011
(212) 924-4440

Elio's
1621 Second Avenue
New York, NY 10028
(212) 772-2242

Elio's is one of my all-time favorite places in the world. The food is sort of classic Italian by way of New York. It’s got a great uptown, old-school vibe where you rub shoulders with the likes of Joan Didion, Charles Gwathmey and Jerry Seinfeld. The waiters, who I have known almost my entire life, don’t even give me a menu.

Lupa
170 Thompson Street
New York, NY 10012
(212) 982-5089
www.luparestaurant.com

Lupa is like a Roman trattoria, bustling with life. I love to go for spaghetti aglio e olio.

Milos
25 West 55th Street
New York, NY 10019
(212) 245-7400
www.milos.ca/en/newyork/

Milos is unbelievable Greek food with a price tag to match. But it's worth it; the fish is just off the boat, incredibly fresh. I love all of the dips and the tuna burger for lunch.

Market Table
54 Carmine Street
New York, NY 10014
(212) 255-2100
www.markettablenyc.com

I just recently discovered Market Table and I adore it. The food is simple and perfect, same owners as the famed Little Owl.

I've been to Lupa and it was very good. Another great NYC place is Mercat.
