Party Pom Poms

Nothing spices up a party more than some hanging pom poms. I have bought them in the past from Lilly Pulitzer and absolutely loved them, but then realized that I can make these at home...and save a penny or two...not sure if my DIY project will be as cute as Lilly's pom poms.

Click here for Martha's instructions- I really like how she has the matching mini pom pom napkin rings:

Here's another idea from the PartyPom's etsy site...not too expensive and super cute...thanks Whitney for sharing this site!

Gwyneth Does Christmas

First you go to brunch at Ina's and now you are frolicking around London making fabulous Christmas arrangements...Gwyneth, can we please be friends?! Who knew that making wreaths and flower arrangements was so easy. This week's newsletter from GP provided simple and easy instructions. I can't wait to give this a whirl myself.

Gwyneth went to her friend, Hayley's, flower shop in London for her afternoon of merry making!

Thanks GP for sharing these tips:

Hayley’s Holiday Wreath

It took Hayley and I about 30 minutes to make this wreath together. You can find most of your supplies at florists and big department stores. In the U.S., Michaels is a great source for home craft projects.
You'll need:
  • 1 Pine Wreath – available at your local florist
  • A Selection of Glass Ball Ornaments
  • Moss Pins
  • Glue Gun
  • Glitter Apples
  • Scissors
The newsletter provides step by step instructions for the wreath making. Here's your before shot:

Great instructions on how to make this flower display...love the combination of white flowers and candles:

Wall Art

Wow, I can't be more impressed by the Craftily Ever After blog. I am not sure if Jessica thinks up these projects herself, but either way- this girl is talented...and crafty...love it. I wanted to share with you a project that she recently did to bring the holidays into her home. I also think that you could use this idea and put your child's name in their room or maybe do a big "EAT" in your kitchen...obviously, the ideas are endless.

Here's a blurb from Jessica, "If you're anything like me, you have Pottery-Barn taste on a garage-sale budget. So when I saw this fabulous bit of word art a few weeks back, I immediately knew I would have to recreate it."
before (buy at pottery barn and spend whole pay check)
after (head to craft store, save money and DIY)

Follow this link for the instructions on how you can make this at home.

Thanksgiving Garland Centerpiece

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is only three days away. With San Francisco having summer weather last week, I think we have almost completely missed fall. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays as it includes all of my favorite things: food, family, wine and friends. People are in cheery moods (for the most part) and everyone gets together to give thanks...what could get better than that?!

Our family's Thanksgiving table is usually filled with a lot of food and I think it's best to keep the centerpiece as simple as possible not to distract from the main event of the holiday...food. Here's are instructions for a simple and elegant Lemon Leaf Garland from Jordan Ferney.
